IPIA uses expertise to help solve real problems through its research, teaching and outreach to the community.

Research
IPIA research spans a wide range of topics within the domains of public policy and international affairs. IPIA research is interdisciplinary, cutting across traditional disciplinary and methodological lines. Research support through IPIA takes a variety of forms including seed grants, staff support for extramural grant applications, information about funding sources, a working papers series, seminar series, and the sponsorship of special forums that bring scholars together to exchange ideas on important, timely issues. Teaching
IPIA teaching activities focus on interdisciplinary programs that span the domains of public and international affairs. Teaching activities in IPIA strive to expand undergraduate and graduate students' research, political participation, and civic engagement opportunities in Utah, the U.S., and other countries. Outreach
IPIA outreach to a variety of external communities is essential to the health, vitality, and relevance of an institute in a public university. We organize outreach plans, goals, and activities primarily by stakeholder groups which includes local and regional government and nonprofit entities, policy makers and the Utah community at large.
